RYE HOUSE V LIONS, PREVIEW

CAPTAIN Danny King reckons a lack of pressure is boosting Leicester’s bid to spring surprises on the road.

Lions have left the tracks of both of last season’s Elite League play-off finalists, Wolverhampton and Belle Vue, with a point having threatened shock victories.

Next on the agenda is Monday’s trip to Premiership newcomers Rye House (2pm) to face a side packed with experienced British campaigners.

Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls provide the support for leading light Edward Kennett but while King acknowledged their talent, the British champion insisted there would be nothing to fear.

“It is going to be a tough meeting but with the team we have, I believe we can go there and get something,” said King. “They have a very experienced team while ours is pretty youthful so it will interesting to see who comes out on top.

“You can never write off any team with the know-how Rye House have at their disposal. They can all go quickly and know their way around there, it is a team that can win anywhere and with Ricky Wells coming in, they are solid from one to seven.

“That said, we have a few guys who like the small, slick tracks so maybe that will go in our favour. Both teams will like racing there and it has the makings of a very good match.

“It could go either way and I would not expect a whitewash from either side. We have a nice atmosphere around the team, especially when we go away, it is all about enjoying ourselves.

“There is no pressure, we just go out and do what we do and it seems to be working well.

“It was shame we could not quite see through the Belle Vue win, we fell just short at the end and it would be nice to perform just as well with a better ending at Rye House.”

RYE HOUSE: Edward Kennett, Stuart Robson, Chris Harris, Ricky Wells, Scott Nicholls, Robert Branford, Ellis Perks.

LEICESTER: Kim Nilsson, Lasse Bjerre, Richard Hall (guest), Erik Riss, Danny King, Josh Bates, Danny Ayres.
